I LOVE TURQUOISE!

I really think anything can be made beautiful with the color turquoise! Not a TON of turquoise of course, but little details with the color along with other neutral tones. I love it for an outfit, for a home and ESPECIALLY for any type of event! Look at some of the looks I LOVE!

I LOVE Christmas! I LOVE Christmas parties! Luckily, in my family, there is not a lack of parties around the holiday season due to multiple birthdays and anniversaries. Its a busy time of year! I decided to spotlight Holiday Weddings today. They can be incredibly beautiful or they can be well...NOT beautiful. Below are some of my favorite looks for any kind of holiday party.

Remember how a few posts ago I explained my love for vintage style? Look at the inspiration board above! How gorgeous is this vintage themed holiday wedding?! I would LOVE to plan something with so much class!

Black and white events are so beautiful! The simplicity really allows for little details of the host's personality to shine through which is incredibly important when designing for specific clients.

Classic Christmas colors can make for beautiful design when done right. This inspiration board shows a few different gorgeous options. That cake KILLS me its so pretty!

Rock It Forward & The Dream Foundation Charity Event

We had the amazing honor of being involved in the designing and coordinating a fabulous charity event for Rock It Forward and The Dream Foundation. You can read a little bit about these charities below. It was truly the most amazing event that we have been involved in because we were able to donate our time to such remarkable causes. Nicole Winnaman, our client and owner of Rock It Work Outs, where the event was held, was ABSOLUTELY fantastic to work with! We enjoyed every second of all of the planning and designing. We had such wonderful vendors that were willing to help for this charity event!

The fashion show that was planned was fabulous! Featured were the following designers: Adrienne Maloof's shoe line, Thai Nyguen (he is a fantastic human being and his designs were GORGEOUS!), Tolani and one other amazing designer, Aron Ash. All together, it was an evening of style, charity and great company. Lots of pics below...BEWARE :-)

Leo's FIRST Birthday Party!!

I had the honor of being a part of my nephew's first birthday in October. My sister had a vision of what she wanted and we did our best to pull it off. I loved the theme of "Leo the Lion". Everything turned out so, so beautifully! It is always such a fun time to be involved in a kid's birthday party. We arranged for a balloon artist to come and keep all of the kids occupied. He was absolutely brilliant!

I would like to think that I have a certain style when I design an event, but I don't. However, I am quite often drawn to vintage looks, especially in weddings. I like the simplicity and how the bride and groom are not muted by the design. I have heard a rumor that vintage is going "out of style"...all I have to say is: I SURE HOPE NOT! I had the wonderful opportunity to help plan Mon Amie's customer appreciation bash which took place at the store on Sunday August 14.

All of the brides were pleasantly surprised that they were able to get their hair and make-up done, sip on champagne, take silly pictures in the photo booth, eat delicious treats and mingle with wedding vendors. Not only did the guests get to have fun but there was also a raffle that included diamond earrings from Robbins Brothers and a pair of fabulous Benjamin Adams crystal studded shoes courtesy of Mon Amie!

At the end of the evening guest were given goodie bags stuffed with the latest Ceremony, Orange County Bride, Bride Magazine or Here Comes the Guide.

C + S Wedding: Private Home

We had the pleasure of planning and coordinating C and S's wedding last year. The reception was held at the groom's fathers home in Sierra Madre.  

The couple met in Las Vegas and their Slogan throughout the engagement was: "What happened in Vegas - didn't stay in Vegas!" We loved working with both of them and wish them lots of laughter and love for many years to come!

We had the pleasure of coordinating and designing floral's for Amber and Eloy's November wedding at the Castaway in Burbank.

Amber looked like a 1920's goddess.

We love this unique ring bearer look Amber went for.

During the ceremony amber opted for a unique "ritual adapted from a Yoruba tradition, the bride and groom taste four flavors that represent different emotions within a relationship: sour (lemon), bitter (vinegar), hot (cayenne), and sweet (honey). By tasting each of the flavors, the couple symbolically demonstrates that they will be able to get through the hard times in life, and, in the end, enjoy the sweetness of their marriage."

Bride & Bloom Feature : Real Wedding : Rich and Sarah

We're thrilled that one of our weddings has been featured in the current Bride & Bloom magazine!

We planned, designed and did the florals for Rich's and Sarah's wedding in 6 weeks! Yes, you read that correctly. One month and a half!

A photo of the venue taken on the day of the wedding by Adam from Embrace Life Photography made it into the table of contents.

We absolutely love the photo in the story - Isn't Nathan adorable?

We made those little mustaches out of felt material.

Introducing Mr. and Mrs. Lopez!

We did so many neat things for the ceremony like a 360 degree (circle) seating - the bride and groom were truly surrounded by their guests. We also created gorgeous modern florals! (Thanks to both Gerry's and Lou from Amador Events for all their hard work on that day!)

We also created a custom Mr. and Mrs. Banner - which worked out nicely as a photo prop and we added it to the back of their seats for dinner.

Sarah insisted on having personalized Jones Sodas - and boy are we glad she had them.

We wanted an interactive wedding so we hired Silhouettes by Nancie. We had Nancie cut 2 silhouettes per person, one was for the guest to keep and the second was used for the guestbook.

Josh Vietti - Surprised the guests with a very special performance during dinner. The little angels (all the kids and babies) surrounded him and danced to his lovely strings.

Finally to end the night we created a delicious dessert station, guests enjoyed wedding cake, mango mousse, chocolate covered strawberries, red velvet cupcakes, cream puffs and much more!

When we found out we also shared our doggies in common, Dachshunds, they knew I was meant to coordinate their special day.

They were such a sweet couple to work with and we enjoyed working with their all-star team.

The event was held at a private venue in Lake Forest, California.

My favorite part of their wedding was when Chris the groom sang a special song to Amber. It was so sweet! The other really fun thing that happened was that they had Karaoke towards the end of the night - it was a huge hit!

A little information on how we came up with this concept:

A few Months back we were invited to be a part of a very special "Something Green Eco Event for the Bride" at Mon Amie Bridal Salon in Costa Mesa, California. We knew we wanted to create something unique and we used succulents, solar powered mini lamps, moss, tree bark, recycled paper and glass for this look.

It looks like we will be coordinating our first wedding there in October. And we can't wait! Yesterday while having our consultation there we saw 4 deer out on the golf course, it was just beautiful!

Wedding Day Lemonade Recipes by Amador Events

I have noticed that there is a huge trend in weddings serving homemade drinks. Like infused waters, infused liquors and lot's of lemonade!!

Up until now I have been creating fabulous flavored lemonades at our home and for family events. I may have to start offering them to my clients. :)

Here are my secret recipes for delicious and almost homemade lemonade!!!

What You Will Need:

Lemonade
Frozen fruit of your choice (preferably 1 type, for example buy a whole bag of frozen strawberries)

Notes:

You can choose to make you lemonade from scratch with lemons, water and sugar or you can cut all that work out and just buy the Minute Maid Frozen canned regular lemonade.
I buy frozen fruits from Trader Joes (My picks are blueberries, Raspberries and Strawberries)

Directions from Canned Lemonade:

Follow the directions on the can and prepare the lemonade. Take fruit out of the bag and with a masher, mash the fruit in the lemonade until the lemonade starts turning purple if making Blueberry Lemonade or red if making Strawberry or Raspberry Lemonade.

Next Do the taste test. If the lemonade needs more water then add it along with a little ice. I leave the fruit in the lemonade as it adds an interesting and yummy treat for everyone!

Serve and Enjoy!!

Martha and Chris : Butterfly Themed Wedding : June 12, 2010

I had the pleasure of working with Martha and Chris on their wedding on June 12th. I was hired by the grooms mother, Francie, whom I mainly planned this wedding with because the bride and groom live in Seattle. Francie was referred to me by another client Wendy who's wedding I coordinated in February.

In addition to planning this event

we also created all the flowers for this day. Martha the bride, chose a butterfly them in memory of her brother who passed away. She said that her brothers nurse hung a butterfly on his door as he passed on. She wanted to incorporate him in most of the weddings elements. The reception was held at a private club house in Valencia.

Highlights of the day included the delicious catering by Truly Yours. Great music and MC of Music to Go. Lastly, one of my favorite memories was seeing Chris - the groom, boogie down like no ones business.

Bolaji and Jila : Nigerian and Persian Wedding : Corona Private Estate

Where do I start with this wedding... There were so many amazing details. Aman from Samson Productions did such a wonderful job capturing all of the day's details. Thank you for providing these photos.

Jila is a beautiful and sweet teacher out in Santa Ana and Bolaji is a Surgeon. Jila is Persian and Bolaji is Nigerian, it was very important for them to incorporate tradition from both cultures.

I was introduced to Jila by Ari at Persiano Events. Persiano did all of the event design and decor and might I add they did a phenomenal job.

The ceremony took place at their local church. From there guests drove to the bride and grooms residence and were greeted with valet parking and a delicious array of drinks and

hor d'oeuvres. After cocktail hours guest were directed to their seats and the grand entrance began with a dance show! Dinner was served the cake was cut but many other details were captured below.

The Bridal Bouquet was simply elegant!

The Couple was surrounded by their closest family and friends as they said their vows.

They ended the ceremony by releasing Doves into the sky. By the way - Doves not only symbolize peace and purity, but because of their devotion to their mates, they are a symbol of chastity and unending love.

Back at the Nafiu Residence guests were treated to a wine tasting presentation, a kabob station and delicious Persian and Nigerian Appetizers.

There was also a live painter to forever capture this special day

The reception set up consisted of gold chivari chairs, gold chargers and crushed wine colored linens.

Did I mention that the bride and groom arrived via horse and carriage??

Lounge

In Persian cultures Elaborate Fruit Display are traditional and boy was this one no exception!

Guests were treated to an amazing cultural dance show

As the evening progressed so did the painting

To end their set the dancers invited everyone to get down

In the Nigerian culture guests shower the bride in groom with money during dances

The guests were treated to Nigerian and Persian Cuisine of course!

Bolaji added a personal touch to the painting

It wasn't only adults toasting, the flower girl and ring bearer had some advice for the bride and groom too!

The wedding cake was in the shape of three books because education is very important to the couple! P.S. Jila has a Masters and Bolaji graduated Yale Medical school.

Jila decided to present her flower to the next bride to be instead of tossing the bouquet.

In addition to all the fun events guests were treated to hand rolled cigars!

Jila and Bolaji previously wed in Nigeria, their wedding photo was used on wine bottles which also served as holders for their table numbers

Towards the end of the night Jila and Bolaji changed into a traditional Nigerian outfits.

At the end of the night guest were treated to Photo Cabina's photo favor!

Taj and Jennifer : Ayres Hotel : A Valentines Day Wedding

My good friend, Photographer Elizabeth Luna, referred Taj and Jennifer to me.

Taj and Jennifer met at the Ayres Manhattan Beach during a company meeting and they were inseparable after that. Taj later proposed to Jennifer at the same hotel and decided so many important things happened at this hotel that they would also marry there.

They decided to tie the knot on Valentine Day 2010! The incorporated a red and white color scheme in honor of this Love Day.

My Clients Wendy and Erasmo found me when I planned the brides sister's wedding.

In the brides own words: Her sister's wedding was flawless, stress free and she couldn't wait to have me coordinate her own affair.

I remember waking up that morning and it was pouring rain. All I could think was umbrellas and lot's of them. Oddly enough I felt that the sun gods would appear since every wedding that I have coordinated has turned out with wonderful weather when you least expect it. As the day progressed the rain went away and it was clear skies for this fab affair.

Mariachi serenaded the bride, groom and guests!

They also chose a custom Gobo

Catch Up - Wendy and Erasmo's Wedding - Ramsey's at the Club

I had the pleasure of working on February 6th with Wendy and Erasmo for their wedding.

The wedding was held at Ramseys at the Club in Toluca Lake - http://www.ramseysattheclub.com/.

The Venue itself was wonderful and the staff was always attentive.

The venue is great for smaller weddings of 75 because you can use the outdoor area as a lounge.

For Dinner they had a great buffet including chicken and filet mignon with all the trimmings.

Dessert included cake and fun and unique Sundae Bar.

Wedding Highlights included:

The 5 Person Mariachi - They were great
The Rolls Royce Limos - Seriously Fabulous
Their Gobo
Create your own Sunday Bar
Their personalized M&M Favors, Including their pictu

The most memorable part of the whole night was Erasmo (the groom), he was so happy and I loved the way he acted out all the songs as he removed the garter off the bride. Everyone laughed.

The night ended with the best spinning I have heard in many years of wedding planning by DJ Omar, the grooms long time friend.

Museum of Latin American Art Wedding

Overall, I really liked MOLAA as an event venue. Guests were allowed to go to the museum prior to the event which I thought was great. I would recommend this venue as a place to look at when searching for a venue.

The outside sculpture garden was perfect for the ceremony. The venue has a built in audio system which makes a couples life so much easier by not having them worry about what sound system they need to rent. The only issue with the ceremony layout was the chairs. Some of the pads were old and dirty, but if you can get padding for the chairs then problem is solved. Per the event manager they are going to get new pads for the chairs.

The Balboa Room where the Reception was held was your average style hall but I liked the colored canvas style walls they added cool backdrop to the venue, cake and other stations.

The exclusive Caterer at MOLAA is TGIS Catering Services. I have to give them two thumbs up Mark the Catering manager was on top of it! He was extremely helpful and thoughtful as he decorated the buffet stations. The food was delicious and was made fresh on site. They created 2 awesome things for the Montiel wedding: 1) The white wine Sangria for the cocktail hour which was fabulous. 2) They created an after dinner snack - chicken and waffles which was such a fun treat for the guests.

The venue has a bride and groom changing rooms which are a huge plus, I give them extra thumbs up for this. The rooms are spacious and remind me of theaters dressing room with plenty of lighting and even a shower.

This venue is right on for an artsy affair.

Love After Marriage

Why is it that couples lose their love for one another after marriage?

A lot of times we just settle and stop doing all the little things that once were so important to keep the flame burning. It's almost like we conquered a goal and we feel there is nothing more to do. Well this is the wrong type of thinking. You have to keep working on your relationship all the time. I am sure you have heard this before but do you practice it?

Today is a good day to do a little something special for your significant other. Maybe a quick little : I love you email with a sentence line of "what I appreciate about you"? Or maybe, have a bottle of wine ready for your loved one when he/she get home from work. Surprise dates are also wonderful. There are so many little things one can do to keep their mate interested in their marriage. Remember that marriage is not about being selfish.

I have been married for 9 Years and we choose to always do little things together. Things like have a movie night or having a late night snack together. It doesn't matter how silly the activities are, they make our love stronger because it is about making one another happy.

I hope that this little tip stays in your heart for many years to come. Best Wishes!
